Dr. Frank Bossen, had made a significant contribution with his
H.264/AVC, which was adopted recently as a new standard in media
compression. H.264 is a high compression digital video codec standard
written by the ITU-T video coding Experts Group (VCEG) together
with the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) as the product
of a collective partnership effort known as the Joint Video Team
(JVT). His invention was a highly efficient video codec based on
an innovation in specific arithmetic coding.
Dr. Moo Ryong Jeong who has been a member of IEEE 802.16 Broadband
Wireless Access Working Group for a few years has recently made
significant contributions to the working group. Dr. Jeong has written
proposal drafts to the standards board for 802.16e about a method
for MSS to determine service flows that may generate paging in addition
to a method for MSS to determine service flows that may generate
traffic indication, and resource retention preference for MSSs in
idle mode. His proposals were recently accepted and will be finalized
in late this May.
