The Mobile Device Laboratory’s mission is to create and define next generation mobile software and software platforms for DoCoMo’s handsets and networks to provide the best user experience.  Device software and software platforms are now recognized as major enablers of consumer experiences on mobile communication networks.  A good software platform blends innovation-inspiring openness with a security-centric design. They attract developers by providing a uniform programming platform, and their careful functional design reduces costs for handset developers that implement them.  Thus, Mobile Device Laboratory’s focus is on service/software quality assurance and security for new and existing service/software platforms.

Mobile Device Laboratory conducts collaborative research and development with leading partner companies and universities. Through these collaborative partnerships we are able to undertake meaningful projects that can significantly impact our future services.
